Edit summary: There is no consensus in sources that Abkhazia was not trying to secede, many sources , it is simply refered as a declaration of independence/sovereignity. It is worth noting that on 23 July 1992 without necessary quorum, Abkhaz deputies of Abkhaz parliament (without Georgian deputies) restored the old constitution of Abkhaz SSR, which had only vague "treaty relations" with Georgia and many sources say this was a step for independence
